One-to-Watch: Laura Webb’s 25th Anniversary Celebration

This year has handed us all some lemons. But when that happens for Laura Webb, her first thought is, “How can I make lemonade?” Like so many cancelled plans this year, Laura’s 25th anniversary party fell victim to COVID-19.

The reservations were made. The menu was decided. The deposits were paid. The save the dates had gone out. And Asheville (along with everywhere else) shut down. You’ve probably had events cancelled this year too, so you know how frustrating this can be.

A UNIQUE EVENT ALTERNATIVE

Feeling the squeeze of the situation, Laura looked for the sweet side. Instead of a party, her business made contributions to causes in her community. They gave to those helping people get through the pandemic like frontline healthcare workers. Laura’s team bought gift cards from local restaurants that needed supporting and delivered it to the local emergency room nurses who’d been pulling long shifts face-to-face with COVID-19. Also on the receiving end, a local food bank, an emergency drop-off daycare for frontline workers, and so many more.

After all the giving was done, we helped Laura and Faith make a video about it to share with those who would have come to the party.

Was it what they had planned? Not even close. Was it what her community needed? Watch and see:

“Our clients thought that was so wonderful and so appropriate. And many of them let us know how much they appreciated us supporting our community.”
