Zoë Meggert is like a lot of advisors. She gets very nervous about the thought of being on camera. Except Zoë isn’t an advisor. She’s a marketer who consistently tells the advisors she works with that they should step in front of the camera. Which is why she knew it was time to take her own medicine.
But she wasn’t happy about it.
Just recording a Loom training video for one of her clients makes her nervous. This felt like a much bigger deal. Zoë wanted to record a brand video to share the value proposition of her company, Perfectly Planned Content. She wanted to make it clear that her company streamlined and simplified advisor marketing. And she wanted to somehow get over her jitters.

One of her favorite on-cam tips from her performance coaching session was to read the script like she’s telling a bedtime story. This hit close to home because she reads books every night to her kids before bed. The tip immediately shifted her delivery. It was like a switch had flipped on the next take. Zoë slowed down, loosened up, and got more animated.

- If you think you're smiling too much, you aren't.
- Use pauses and intonation to your advantage to make your script more compelling.
- Shift your weight while you talk so you don't look like a paper cut out (ha).
From the first take to the last, Zoë made some major improvements. All it took was some coaching and the guts to step in front of the camera in the first place.
