The Real #Finfluencers Ep. 7: How To Embrace Authenticity For Better Video Marketing

As an introverted perfectionist, Stacy Miller, founder and CEO of Bayview Financial Planning, knows firsthand how challenging it can be to embrace video marketing. Yet, in just one year, she’s transformed her approach, using authenticity and relevance to connect with her audience.

In this episode of The Real #Finfluencers, Stacy shares how she overcame her perfectionist tendencies to create impactful content that resonates.

Here are 3 of her top tips:

#1 Give Yourself a Reward to Record

Recording can be stressful, especially when you’re pushing past perfectionist instincts. Stacy’s solution? Treat yourself afterward! For her, it’s a glass of wine, a moment of meditation, or a chat with her therapist to unwind and reset. Find what works for you and make it a routine.

# 2 Shoot in Landscape for Versatility

Landscape videos give you the flexibility to crop for portrait-oriented platforms like Instagram while maintaining quality for YouTube and LinkedIn. It’s best to give yourself plenty of options. The last thing you want is to re-record!

# 3 Focus on Relevance, Not Perfection

Clients connect with content that feels timely and immediately useful. Stacy found that videos reacting to current events—like interest rate changes—outperformed general financial advice. Just do it. Connecting through video doesn’t require a polished facade—it requires heart and honesty.
